Cherry Pie Race - Napa, CA
In celebration of the president's birthdays, the local Napa bike club is sponsoring its annual Cherry Pie Criterium on Sunday, February 11, 2001. The recumbent race starts at 3 p.m. and will last for about 45 minutes. This is a good track . It's a one mile loop, with 6 turns with a hairpin turn at the top of a pretty good hill climb. This race happens rain or shine and is a good tune up for the rest of the year racing season. Race
fee is modest, usually about $20.00. The event is located on the southern outskirts of Napa at an industrial park. Parking is located directly under the Highway 29 overpass, near the giant statue of the wine maker.

Wolver-Bents/Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association Annual Winter Meetings
February 10, 2001 (Saturday)
An afternoon of recumbents and human powered vehicle displays, talks and socializing. First there is the Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association meeting from 12 noon until 3pm. While there is a very short period of general business (election of officers, treasurers report), the majority of the meeting is spent on presentations about designing, building and riding all types (land, water and air) of human powered vehicles with lots of show and tell. From 3pm-4pm, the Wolver-Bents will hold its first annual meeting. Items to be discussed include 2001 events, Wolver-Bent "structure" and suggestions for growth/improvement. At the end of the Wolver-Bent meeting, a short "buying your first recumbent" talk will be given for those
new to the bicycles.
The Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association/Wolver-Bents meetings are free and open to all bicyclists. The event will be held at the University of Michigan North Campus in Ann Arbor. The actual meeting location is the Design Room (Room 1008), Francois Xavier Bagnoud Building, 1320 Beal Avenue (near the corner of Beal and Hayward). For more information about the meetings contact Wally Kiehler (Michigan Human Powered Vehicle Association) at 313/884-0109/wkiehler@aol.com or Bob Krzewinski (Wolver-Bents)

South Florida Tour
Palm trees, warm carribean waters and expected great weather. We have assembled a tour of South Florida over a great route. The route was professionally designed by a bike tour researcher/writer. The trip leaves Sunday, Feb. 18 and ends Saturday Feb. 24 for a total of 7 days. Space is limited!!!!!
This will be an unsupported tour (no SAG, carry what you need on the bike including camping gear) from Pompano Beach (Ft Lauderdale), skirting Miami, down thru the Keys (riding on the bridges, just above the waters of the Gulf, it is incredible) to Key West, some layover time in Key West, ferry boat ride to Ft Meyers (Fla's west coast), thru the Florida back country, skirt Lake Okeechobee, western Palm Beach County, back to Pompano Beach. This trip is mostly camping, with one mandatory motel stay and sometimes the option of a motel or hostel. No sneak SAGS, speed freaks, part-timers or whiners. You are expected to go with the intention and time to complete the trip. the tour WILL be relaxed, fun and casual. Mileage will be (+/-) 65 a day average, 10-14 mph relaxed pace. We will be touring on recumbents (BikeEs). Wedgie riders welcome. Mostly eating out on great seafood, local favorites. This would be a great starter to learn unsupported touring. If you lack the equipment, I would be more than happy to make suggestions. Receiving your shipped bike by UPS and assembling it can also be arranged. Ft. Lauderdale airport is a cab ride away. You can park at my house, the start/finish. We are doing this for fun, we ask for no money, so don't expect a catered tour. Arrangements will be made as we go for most camping/accomodations. Seriously interested parties let me know, I can give you the itinerary and phone numbers to make arrangements and expected costs. Motels stays not planned must be arranged by you.
