Golden Gate Park on a Bike By Cycle America
Golden Gate Park
Car-Free Sundays!

Every Sunday the San Francisco Department of Parks & Rec closes John F. Kennedy Drive from Stanyan St, where it narrows into the Panhandle, all the way to 20th Ave.

Here you will find a celebration of hikers, bikers, joggers and skaters all merrily moving about.

If you want a brisk workout pace for yourself, you can follow JFK Dr. down to the Polo Fields where a 3/4 mile track will surely blow away any cob webs a car trip might have left you with! Then when you are done, if it happens to be Sunday, you can join the festivities back on the lazier car free part of JFK Dr.

If you need a bike to rent, Blazing Saddles , near Fisherman's wharf, at 1095 Columbus Ave., can get you into anything from an around town cruiser to a full suspension, state-of-the-art two wheeler. They've even got directions from the wharf to the park, the Presidio, the Bay Trail, the Golden Gate Bridge, Tiburon, Sausalito and Mill Valley as well as how to make connections with the ferry at their site!
