What We Need

  • A Search Engine Loading : We need people willing to go to the main search engines such as Yahoo, Alta Vista, Web Crawler, Dog Pile, Lycos and Info Seek, etc., and load our NBG2000 site every few months such that it stays at the top of such searches. Reply with your interest and we can supply you with the needed submission url's as well as keywords and the needed 25 word description of our site!

  • Link City Media: If you are doing our ride, no matter where you live, we need access to the media in your area. Fax numbers, contact persons, addresses, etc for the newspapers, radio and TV in these areas, however big or small these operations may be, are much needed . Email addresses would be ideal.

Really what we need are key persons at these news providers. Since the titles of those who reports on bicycling or outdoor activities vary from news service to news service, we need to be able to get on the desk of the person at your local newspaper who regularly works in this area. If each person who reads this could go to their local daily or weekly and figure out who such a person is, we can contact lots of different newspapers and magazines with info about the NBG. And if such email address submitters don't mind, maybe we can even suggest a story idea about their (as a local cyclist to that paper) doing a ride for the National Bicycle Greenway. Mark Brunson out in Tampa did this for us and he came away with a powerful feature which mentioned us on Christmas Day!!

TV and radio often gets their feature stories from the press, so the humble newspaper is where we must begin!

  • Link City Liaison: Even before our Year 2000 ride begins, while our riders are on the road next summer we need to be able to access the media in all of the major cities through which our routes pass. We will need to have addresses, especially Email, and all of the appropriate contact info so that we can get info to these news purveyors on a timely basis. Anyone want to spearhead such a team?

  • Link City Bicyclist Services: In all of our major link city areas, please help us locate those services and stores that you feel are worthy of a cyclist's visit. Examples: Natural food stores, hotels, B&B's , restaurants, attractions, coffee houses, massage persons, pizzerias, produce stands, bagelries, spas/steam baths/saunas/hot tubs, car rental, bakeries, public showers, salad bars, book cafes, visitors info, wineries, annual events, farmers markets, delis, sandwich shops, tours/sightseeing, and camping. Soon an interactive form will be available for this but until then, do please make note of any of the above and load them to this site!

  • Cross Linking with us. In exchange for your putting our linked graphic at your site, we will establish you as either an NBG Donor or NBG Sponsor. To activate the following code, just replace the two deleted left brackets (<).

Then send us email (address below).

  • Existing Greenways. We need to know where all US Greenways over 25 miles in length are located. If you can pass along a web site that would be great. The ones we are familiar with are at this location.

  • Elementary School Dialogue: When Karen Laubhan was at our offices reglueing our NBG display model, she talked about getting the NBG ride into elementary schools across the nation. She thought it would be great if kids could track our progress on a map of the United States that they could update from the web that John Strait and his wife will be keeping current for us. Anyone have any ideas for ways that we can put this idea before a broad cross section of schools instead of approaching them one at a time? How can we get our ride into the nation's school curriculum?

  • Nonprofit Accountant: Seems that the brilliant CPA who set up our 501c3 status has less and less time for the NBG as she uses her retirement to travel more and more. If you can help us here, please reply accordingly. We're probably talking just a few hours a week.
