A<\/span>s the director of the NBG,\u00a0 in the summer of 2009, Martin Krieg<\/strong><\/a> flew a trial balloon when he rode the historic\u00a01891 Eagle<\/a>\u00a0HiWheel from\u00a0San Francisco to Salt Lake City<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to promote our nonprofit\u00a0National Bicycle Greenway<\/a><\/strong>. His 2010 attempt ended\u00a0 because\u00a0a car turned in front of him, destroying his bike<\/a><\/strong>. It was then that he moved himself and\u00a0 the Eagle to Ireland\u00a0 where he biked as much as he could <link<\/a><\/strong>> in between the weather and the little boy <link<\/a><\/strong>> he brought into the world . This as he also\u00a0 learned a lot about the Greenway successes the Irish are\u00a0enjoying (his\u00a0 meeting with Enda Kenny, the Irish president\/Taoiseach<\/a><\/strong>) .<\/span><\/p>\n

He returned to the USA in the summer of 2015 and landed in\u00a0Davis, the once inarguable Bike Capital of America<\/b>\u00a0where he enjoyed their 2017 \u2013 Bike lane 50th Anniversary and had minimal success staging rides and festivals.<\/span><\/div>\n

Unhappy with the progress he was making there he moved to Indianapolis<\/strong> in the fall of 2017, where to his delight he discovered a bicycle city that only now people are starting to discover. In the build up of his relaunch of the National Bicycle Greenway from Indianapolis, his extensive research of the city has produced “How Indianapolis Built America and How it will Rebuild It with the National Bicycle Greenway”<\/a><\/strong>. Along the way he has also discovered that Indianapolis is home to the most bike friendly downtown in America and is blessed with the Cultural Trail<\/strong><\/a>, the only downtown greenway in the world.
