S<\/span><\/strong>tarting [sta_anchor id=”display”]September 15, the Lightning Phantom<\/strong> that we are raffling off at the Davis NBG Fest<\/strong> (also available HERE<\/a><\/strong>) , will be on display at Whole Foods.<\/strong> Here is how one of the top graphic designers on the West Coast, Eric Warp<\/strong>, pictures the amazing idea he came up with:<\/div>\n

W<\/strong><\/span>e are still in the process of firming things up, but Avid Reader Books<\/a><\/strong> is tentatively hosting a [sta_anchor id=”booksinging”]booksinging for my book, “Awake Again”<\/strong> on October 20, a Thursday two days before our Festival.<\/div>\n

– H<\/span><\/strong>ere is the [sta_anchor id=”description”]\u00a0description of my book that the Avid Reader people asked me to create:<\/div>\n

\"unnamed-9\"“Awake Again, all the way back from head injury” is the true story of how \u00a0Martin Krieg, in an attempt to offset all the merciless bullying \u00a0that defined his life, tried to prove his manhood \u00a0by living a life of danger. Turning from his bicycle to motorcycles and fast cars once he studied for and then became an accountant, he kept taking foolish risks until he died clinically as a result of an automobile \u00a0collision.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
Soon, he found, the grueling rehabilitation that resulted from a two-month coma, heart seizures and right-side paralysis \u00a0placed his masculinity \u00a0on center stage. Powering through one obstacle after another, he was\u00a0able to walk for a few steps. And then a few steps more until all this gives way to the long bicycles rides he goes on to then begin the work of \u00a0fine tuning his physical and emotional well being. It is during this time that he \u00a0developed an insatiable appetite for \u00a0the self help books that ultimately suggested he needed to use his story to make life easier for others, thus the National Bicycle Greenway that he now eats, sleeps and breathes.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
H<\/span><\/strong>ere, as well, is the [sta_anchor id=”bio”]\u00a0bio the Avid people asked me to create:<\/div>\n
Grateful to \u00a0bicycling for rebuilding \u00a0his life, Martin Krieg dedicated his rehabilitation from a two month coma, paralysis and clinical death \u00a0to the creation of a coast-to-coast bicycle right of way \u00a0after his 2nd bike ride across America in 1986 . Then when his autobiography, “Awake Again” came out in 1994 he got even more serious with the National Bicycle Greenway, the \u00a0nonprofit volunteers helped him form. In 2010, however, he lost his tax-exempt status \u00a0for it \u00a0when he moved to Ireland to raise his now 5 year old son. \u00a0A resident of Davis, CA, for the last year, he is working to make his new city \u00a0the new home of the organization he is rebuilding.<\/div>\n
