Murat Center<\/p><\/div>\n

On the Cultural Trail, from North St., a right on\u00a0 <\/span>Alabama will put you next to\u00a0The Old National Centre<\/b>. Formerly known as the Murat Shrine Temple<\/strong> as well as the Murat Shrine Center<\/strong>, this is the largest Shrine Center in North America. Built in 1909, it is also the oldest stage house in downtown Indianapolis that is still standing. It has an 1,800-seat concert hall and a 2,500-seat performing arts theater as well as nine other hosting areas, some of which can hold as many as 2,000 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

A 130,379-square-foot building, the Murat\/National Centre has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment, including concerts and national touring events. These include Bruce Springsteen<\/strong>, John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Phish, Britney Spears, David Bowie, R.E.M., *NSYNC, Motley Crue, Sting, BB King, Harry Connick Jr, Jerry Seinfeld, Sesame Street Live, Carole King, Les Misrables, Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats<\/b>, and many more.\u00a0 <\/span>There was even a 1932 speech given at the Murat by Winston Churchill<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
