In showing that Indianapolis is the new and worthy home of the National Bicycle Greenway, the statement below is one of the reasons why we overhauled\u00a0BikeRoute.com<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0One of the headlines at the Indianapolis Visitors Bureau website at\u00a0www.visitindy.com<\/a>, the words you see here communicate the impact, this the Crossroads of America, knows it has on the Nation as a whole. In seeing the big picture of their actions, this powerful international promotion authority has been building traffic for USBR 35,\u00a0\u00a0a bike route from Chicago to Indy\u00a0the state\u00a0 of Indiana<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has been working to make bike friendly\u00a0.\u00a0This<\/a><\/b>,\u00a0from their blog,\u00a0for example, is how VisitIndy is working to promote this old car highway for cyclists.<\/div>\n

Now that the words “Indianapolis, Home of the\u00a0National Bicycle Greenway”<\/strong> have been designed into the header for\u00a0our web site,\u00a0 we have once again reached out to Visit Indy. Soon, we will begin working with them in earnest to promote USBR 35. Toward that end, this Fall then, we\u00a0will be bringing our 17th Mayors’ Ride from the Windy City to a reception with Indy Mayor\u00a0Joe Hogsett<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\/or his office. Hopefully he will meet Indianapolis bike mechanic\/student and part time messenger,\u00a0Katharine Ruegger<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0who wants to do this ride\u00a0<\/span>for us\u00a0next September. She will probably be joined by others as well!<\/div>\n

\nIn the big picture, this will help us sell next summer’s 18th National Mayors’ Ride. Then we plan to bring cyclists from San Francisco, Washington, DC and our 17 other NBG Anchor Cities to Indianapolis to help the city celebrate its 2020 Bicentennial<\/strong>. Concurrently, for the Indy bicentennial summer, besides Visit Indy, we also look forward to soon working with\u00a0Jordan Blaire<\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0Indiana Historical Society\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/span>Our National Mayors’ Ride history can be found HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
