It is excerpted from<strong> \u00a0<\/strong><span class=\"s2\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bikeroute.com\/NationalBicycleGreenwayNews\/2014\/05\/15\/why-the-national-bicycle-greenway-does-international-mayors-rides\/\">Why The National Bicycle Greenway does International Mayors\u2019 Rides<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0a passage found in\u00a0\u00a0&#8220;How America Can Bike and Grow Rich, the National Bicycle Greenway in Action&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/bikeroute.com\/HBGR-ebook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FREE HERE<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>The Big Picture:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Besides helping our Mayors\u2019 Ride \u00a0cities to show that good bike infrastructure means good quality of life, by placing them in friendly competition with one another, as they make it safe for bike riders to get to their own businesses and attractions, our Mayors\u2019 Ride cities, by default, will also become attractive travel destinations for out of the area bike riders as well. And as \u00a0cyclists regularly enjoy the roads and paths \u00a0that \u00a0connect these cities to one another, when these population centers see how much business \u00a0long haul cyclists are bringing their way in the form of hotel stays, restaurant \u00a0meals and visits to their attractions, etc, \u00a0city leaders will lobby their regional legislators to make it safer and more enjoyable for pedal visitors to reach them.\u00a0\u00a0And as this happens, more and more cities will lobby the \u00a0NBG to include them in our Mayors\u2019 Ride network.
