O<\/b><\/span>n Sat \u00a0May 16, once they cross the Dumbarton Br, the only west to east crossing of the San Francisco Bay outfitted with a bike path, cyclists leaving Palo Alto City Hall will be joined by cyclists from Bike\u00a0East Bay<\/a><\/strong>. On their way to Oakland City Hall, their numbers will grow as they reach certain destinations along this part of the National Bicycle Greenway route from San Francisco to Washington, DC. A route pioneered in part \u00a0by the now deceased, former Mr. Bike Oakland, Ron Bishop<\/a><\/strong>, the NBG and Bike East Bay are celebrating his life the next\u00a0Saturday with a ride around Lake Merritt, followed by another ride to Berkeley City Hall along the bayfront.<\/div>\n

Oakland native, NBG Director, and “Awake Again, all the way back from head injury<\/a>“,\u00a0 author Martin Krieg<\/a> will \u00a0be on the same, rare 1891 Eagle Hiwheel<\/a> bicycle he used on the Palo Alto to Oakland \u00a0roads in 2009 when he rode \u00a0this amazing machine from Palo Alto to Salt Lake City <link<\/a>>.\u00a0 You can cross the Bay with Krieg and \u00a0the NBG by joining them at Palo Alto City Hall at \u00a08AM. Their group will also include the most photographed cyclist on the planet,\u00a0Peter Wagner<\/a>,<\/b>\u00a0whose photo album at Flickr recently topped a million unique visits. A no-limits bike rider, Peter is also the most decorated Kinetic Sculpture racer in the history of that racing series. \u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Once the ride lands in Alameda County, you can meet it\u00a0in Union City in the parking lot at\u00a0Bronco Billy’s Pizza Palace,\u00a03940 Smith Street\u00a0at 10:30 AM.\u00a0Another group will meet \u00a0in Oakland at the\u00a0Hilton Oakland Airport at Hegenberger and Doolittle at 12:30\u00a0\u00a0before they then ride the car free trail trails between the Oakland Coliseum and the Oakland Airport \u00a0that Ron Bishop was instrumental in\u00a0bringing about.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Bike East Bay, a fast growing force for the welfare of San Francisco East Bay Area cyclists, recently shared honors with the powerful \u00a0San Francisco Bike Coalition as the \u00a0Advocacy Organization of the Year.\u00a0As for the National Bicycle Greenway, other of their CA\u00a0Mayors’ Ride events \u00a0this May can be found along with their coast-to-coast map at\u00a0BikeRoute.com<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
