This is an updated version of the ride that appeared in the Cycle America Regional Directory for California's Central Coast

FAMILY RIDE: There is a nice jogging path that encircles the Stanford Campus following Campus Dr., as well as bike paths on each side of Palm Dr. (which is University Ave on the east side of El Camino Real) leading to and from Palo Alto. Neither of these paths have auto traffic, but the distances are quite short. For a longer ride, head west on nearby Campus Dr. Turn left right on Junipero Serra Blvd. and turn left again at Alpine Rd. Ride Alpine as far as you like and double back, or go until you reach Portola Rd. (you can turn right here and follow the road all the way, for it eventually rejoins Alpine Rd. and you can simply turn left onto Junipero Serra which heads back to the campus.)
