On our 9th ride on the American River Parkway (ARP) from the beautiful Larkspur Landing hotel (NBG riders can save 20% on a room HERE) where Whole Foods Folsom will be set up to send us off with delicious continental breakfast foods, we’ll pedal bicycle heaven for 14 miles before we fuel up again at another Whole Foods Market, their Sacramento store. A one mile detour, they will make our diversion more than worth it.
Here on an Ireland Saturday, I just got word from their Marketing Team Leader that not only will they refresh us with ample amounts of energy food and drink in their handsome outdoor seating area, but they will make sure we are fed even when our ride just about reaches it end in Old Town Sacramento, ten miles away. Toward that end, we will enjoy the picnic lunch they will send us (the first 30 of us who commit to this amazing ride) off with at peaceful Discovery Park where the American River meets the Sacramento River.
And if that’s not enough they are looking into the possibility of having a kombucha truck at their store for our cyclists! With ice cold kombucha on tap, no less. This is also exciting news because hydration is the name of the game on the ARP. I hope they can make this happen because I want all my American friends to experience this truly refreshing drink. Here in Ireland, kombucha is a relative unknown – the only time I get to enjoy it is when I come back to the States for our annual Mayors’ Rides.
