Bob Bryant’s Recumbent Cyclist News now Archived – he joins new Facebook page!

A man who is a true giant in the world of recumbents, Robert Bryant, recently became one of the first members of  the Facebook groupRecumbent Two Wheel Bicycles. Bob was the publisher of Recumbent Cyclist News (RCN), a hard copy newsletter that published 9 times a year. It was RCN that established a nomenclature for all the different designs that were starting to come out in the early 90’s  such as LWB, Long Wheel Base, SWB, Short Wheel Base, USS, Under the Seat Steering, etc. In describing the various kinds of recumbents that are out there, these are the acronyms that are still in use today.

RCN was a professional publication, RCN not only reviewed recumbents and trikes, but it offered classified ads, letters to the editor, a calendar of recumbent events, a home-builders corner and guest articles. During its 17-year run, it was RCN that gave legitimacy to an industry that soon began to expand beyond the two-car home garage.

He and his publication were far ahead of their time. You can read the RCN archives which ran from 1990-2007
