Indy to Chicago NBG Markers – Made in Indianapolis?

Here in the Greenway Capital of America is a mile marker I pass every day on the trail behind the Zoo just before I cross the White River. It is one of the original mile markers on the White River Full Circle Trail developed by Mr Greenway himself, Ray R Irvin. One part of the Greenway master plan he developed for the city of Indianapolis, each segment of the trail has its own name and logo connecting to something in it history. On this one, the symbol is the Indian representation for river while the word Wapahana is the Indian name for river.

Ray’s friend, and one of the first people I came to know when I moved here, Dick Lutin of ACS Signs, made these beautiful markers! In addition, all of the logos are trade marked and belong to the Greenways Foundation. More detail about the White River Full Circle Trail HERE

So, a lot of the groundwork has been done as we endeavor to mark Indianapolis to Chicago (162 miles), the first leg of the National Bicycle Greenway, using USBR 35, the network of bike roads and paths that Richard Vonnegut (of the Kurt Vonnegut lineage) championed!
